These were some of our competitors. The unicorn was very fast.
Here we are after the finals. My hip joints hurt so much I had to kneel at the end.
We entered in the racing division. Our competition was fierce.... 2 boats didn't make it to the starting line, the other two boats were very well designed; one being a rowing skull with fixed oars we were sure was going to win. Unfortunately the skull got hung up with another boat at the starting line so we wound up with a big head start and managed to win the race. We also won the final race which was against all the winners of the open categories. The unicorn was fast, and powered by middle school girls called "ninja unicorns." In the finals the "Ninja Unicorns" had trouble getting to the starting line, and the start whistle blew while they were still sideways. So....again we got a head start and won.
Very fun day. The boys and friends built a milk carton raft on shore after lunch, and spent a few hours paddling it around.
KIRO news took the photo through the sharks mouth.
