Winter Scenes at the Lake
Not much ice in front of our cottage (right), probably because it is quite deep. There were pier-like formations to the west which you can see if you click on the picture and blow it up.
Madhu's lakefront (below), which is a lot shallower, had the volcano formations, but the water was not splashing up from inside them today.
I made two very pleasant trips to the lake this weekend, one with Dad/Grandpa/Jim yesterday and then again with Janice and Buster today.

Ek Balam Pueblo
We had a very nice time in the Mayan village. Ben thought it was the best place in Mexico because there were 4 puppies at the "hotel" (kind of like camping in beds). Liam liked the pool where he used a pail to take water from the shallow end and pour it into the deep end to make it deeper. He actually seemed to understand when I told him it would not work. When the kids played on the street many village children came out to join them. The village was full of all kinds of animals - dogs, turkeys, chickens, pigs, sheep or goats, cows. The dogs were heard many times during the the night (sounded like about 200 of them) and the roosters started about 4 am. Still, we liked being there. We could easily walk a path to the ruins but could not enter that way because of a barbed wire fence. A highlight of the visit was a trip to a private cenote in a deep cave where we were the only people other than the owner and his kids.
