Waterfall hike

We did the Cedar Creek falls hike yesterday. The flowers were in full bloom with perhaps 50 different varieties. The water is flowing well and the kids all went swimming. This is a much more interesting hike than the desert we did last year and I recommend we do this next year on our flower search quest. Nathan actually jumped off a cliff into the pool that was more than 30 feet high (several feet higher than where he is standing in the picture below). He has a big bruise on his butt. The walk back up hill was very hard made more difficult by the very warm day. Fortunately, John had cold beer on ice waiting for us.

Happy Mother's day.

  1. It looks wonderful - wish I was there (we had snow today). Is this the walk from John and Kathy's house in Ramona? Would March be too early for the flowers and swimming weather?

  2. The thought of Nathan making that jump gives me the willies....

The area sure does look beautiful. How far a drive is it from your place? And how long a hike to the waterfall?

  3. We walked from John's house (where I lived in Ramona) which is about a 40 minute drive from our house. The walk down is about 1.5 miles (3.0 miles RT) but all down hill there and up hill back. Took about 1 hour down and 1.5 hours back up. I think it would be too cold to Swim in March as it is run off from Julian though would depend on the temperature outside.
