After spreading compost for a couple of hours I was very ready for a swim. The water was a wonderful temperature, refreshing but not cold. It is probably the latest first swim ever. I hope the weeds and grass stay hidden under the compost for at least 2 weeks.
For complete accuracy, it was not compost (which the weeds would have loved) but hardwood mulch: which covers weeds and brings civilization to a run-riot garden. It comes in large plastic bags, about 100 pounds per bag. Fortunately strenuous resistance training over the last decade or so prepared me sufficiently well to wrestle them by myself, first, into, and then, with Mom's help, out of the Mini boot into the wheelbarrow. After which a Heinekins was very welcome.

Yikes, Dad. That's alot of work.
ReplyDeleteWe also had our first lake swim of the year at Susie's annual July 4th party. The water was lovely. Lottie spent hours swimming with anyone who would join her. She is sacked out on the couch today, no signs of life
Hopefully it smells better than compost. It does sound like a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteWe had a great 4th here. I caught a few more Perch which Tui cooked and we had a nice barbecue prior to the fireworks last night.
see you next week.
