another (shorter) bike ride

Inspired by the last post and by Obama's campaign ("yes we can") I put the 1970 3-speed Sturmey-Archer Moulton in the Jaguar boot then drove to D&B for the Jaguar's yearly spring cleaning and waxing, then bicycled to school in 90 degree heat against a southerly head wind (1.7 miles) then after work bicycled home (3 miles) still 90 degrees but no headwind. The Moulton is a cute little bike (we bought it at a police auction in 1972?3? for $17), and is still on the road (very occasionally) with the help of new tyres. It will go out again to the cottage in the boot of a car, where I think Tui and Nathan had used it most recently (that is, within the last 5 years or so.)

  1. I hope the 90 degree weather stays for the reunion. It's still in the 60's in Seattle, and I'm afraid we're going to miss summer completely this year.

Looking good Dad. 3 miles on those tiny wheels is a real work-out!

  3. I remember that bike!
Well, Sarah-it's a 62 degree Saturday here after a 97 degree Thursday. My poor flowers are confused.
