A great weekend and successful wedding present

A great weekend and successful fishing trip.  Tim came down and we got to enjoy the sunset from the Hotel Del Coronado on Saturday followed by fishing on Sunday.  After a slow start to fishing, it heated up in the afternoon and we ended with more than 25 Yellowfin Tuna.  When we got home we made some POKE and Sashimi for dinner.  Below is a picture of the group and Jeff's best catch of the day.  Congratulations to Jeff and Missy from Chris, Tui, Nathan, Nicole, Tim, Mom, and Dad.

Summer's Highlights

School starts on September 3rd so summer is not quite over. I feel the change coming though. The nights are already longer, and the mornings cooler. We're in summer's last hurrah.

Our time at the lake is almost at an end.  The big excitement has been a red squirrel in the house.  It has greeted us on several mornings from the top of the bookshelf.   Liam caught it with the camera when we scared it into the bedroom.  We bought a "Have-a-heart" trap and caught it while we were in Stratford, but it escaped when we put it overnight in the shed so it is still at large and came in again today.

The boys have become very steady on the paddle boards.

 

Milk Carton Derby

We were lucky to be in Seattle for this Green Lake event.  It was lots of fun and we could cool off with a swim in the lake.  Ben and two friends paddled the serpent boat designed by the friends' father.  They won the first heat but got blown off course and came in third in the final runoff.  The boat and crew won a $100 certificate from an Italian restaurant for their overall appearance.

The green and yellow boats were 1st and 2nd.  Our team beat the green boat in the first heat by a hair.

Celebrating Ben's 12th Birthday on Anderson Island

We are a day late for the birthday but this is a spectacular place to celebrate!  You can see Puget Sound and the mainland in the window reflection above.
