Did We Carve Pumpkins When We Were Kids?

I do not remember much about my childhood Halloween, except the paper shopping bags of candy. Both boys have school parties tomorrow, and of course, there will be neighborhood trick-or-treating in the evening. Holidays do help relieve these dark and soggy months in Seattle. People have already started putting up lights on the outside of their houses. I might put up our "icicles" before Thanksgiving this year.

  1. Big pumpkins. The costumes are very good but I have no idea who they are - I'm just not keeping up. I hope they can see. Yesterday was a sunny, crisp day spent putting away outdoor furniture at the lake. We decided to leave the water turn-off for next week. Adam and Niko and friends came last week while we were in San Diego. They said they caught lots of fish.

  2. I think Halloween is celebrated more now. I like the idea. Costumes and pumpkins are created.

  3. Sarah, I think you are having trouble recalling Halloween because the paper shopping bag that was full of candy that you are recalling was actually in my closet and you felt guilty about surreptitiously eating all my hard-earned candy over the months following Halloween!

I do recall roasting/baking fresh pumpkin seeds in the oven on those flat metal trays after we carved the pumpkins.

  4. And don't forget, I once made a pumpkin pie from a pumpkin.

  5. I do remember the pumpkin seeds. Alas Mom, that pumpkin pie left not a hint of a memory. About the rest, Tim, I am trying to forget.
