The Dock!

Alex and his son Dean really helped build the dock.

Lots of muck and mud.... Thankfully no leaches.

 Work in progress.

 Almost there.

We used the footprint of the old dock to shape the new floating dock. It still moves around quite a bit, but we're getting there.

  1. That dock is further out than it looked in previous photos. The sections look heavy - how did you move them to the water? Can you stand in the water? Can you dive in from the dock? Looks great.. Can't wait to see it.

  2. Wow, I feel envious! The dock looks beautiful. How will you anchor it to shore?

  3. We don't have to worry about waves or freezing at Shadow Lake so anchoring the dock is easier than on Lake Ontario. The walk way to the dock continues onto a boardwalk that curves around the foliage, and ends at the area that we were building the dock. Each 8 foot section is screwed together, and hinged where the walkway meets the dock. We are also going to put 4 U-bolts connecting the dock to the existing pylons so that the dock can freely move up and down, but will be limited in it's side top side action. Our first attempt at those was a failure though.....
